Hello,
Well I am here looking to find some sensible ppl to cruise with. Using the more ppl the bigger discount and additional amenities. So I am 40ish edu, outgoing, love life and love to travel. Will fly out of anywhere, typically use the gulf coast and south coast to sail from. However open to diff ports. Would prefer a female unless we are going 3-6 ppl, however open. I mean...how do I say this with...well however not really open to the bi male thing. Thanks for understanding. lol, crazy story, ask me sometime. lol Again looking easy to cruise with, can either go with someone for the saving money, or dinner dates, entertainment, bar hopping dancing, you know, or we can do the partner thing, meaning we can plan the excursions together, dinners or can be more flex in we can just do our own thing. Open to suggestions, open to room selection. My personal preference is the balcony or higher, however if you want to steal the cruise inside for the cost is fine too. Love the balcony or suites, if we go with 4-6 ppl, suites are very affordable per pp its about 600-1500, per pp, and the perks are great. So people I want ppl to post, feel free to talk stimulate conversation, do not be shy or be, share you experiences that have worked in attracting great ppl who love life and want to feel safe and cruise with ppl that might not have met otherwise. Thanks. email me if you like a smileandsayhi@live.com or here please...

Curious to know how the actual mechanics of something like this - the money mechanics. Someone still has to be the LEAD person to the booking?...who takes the financial risk I assume. A cruise line won't split that 4 or 5 ways I expect. Full pay upfront, no cancel booking? Or is it just take a chance and hope it works out. 2 ppl def easier than 4-5+ Have you done this in the past with success?

Hi, Seasalt. Given that the original posting person has not been back in over a year, I suspect the interest in such a group has passed. However, the best way to do it is through a good travel agent. Someone tells the agent the facts of the group: how many, cabin type preference, any special needs, etc., and the particular cruise they want. The agent then contacts the cruise line to determine exactly what the total cost will be. There can be several complicating factors .... like whether anyone in the group has a loyalty status that qualifies for a fare discount, or amenities perks, and how many (if any) companions they would extend to. He can put a temporary hold on the cabin. Once you know the costs, the group has to decide how to split them up. Evenly? Or do those who get "real" beds pay a little more than those on a sofa bed, pull-down, or cot? Each member of the group then provides the TA with credit card into and authorization to charge their share. As soon as all have done so, the TA enters the reservation. It is best to collect the full amount even if the final payment is not yet due. Even when I share with just one other person, we each pay through the TA. It prevents a host of potential problems.

good catch S S........ did not catch the OP date. This board is very thinly traded. You make good points. I imagine though there would still have to be a designated CC and lead person attached to the booking. I thought maybe booking directly via the cruise line was best but I can see they probably don't want the extra hassle. Do cruise lines take bookings with a no refunds policy? A better price might be offered? That would eliminate at least one potential drawback of last minute(weeks I guess realistically)cancels in this type of share plan.

Well, there has to be a lead person only in the sense that someone has to make the initial contact with the travel agent. I have had at least a couple of " no refunds" cruises, but I think they were booked relatively close to the sail date. And my agent has always been able to match the cruiseline's offer, and often add some perk.

I a 46 yr old, male, Silicon Valley executive. I love cruising, unfortunately my family does not. The last cruise I did I went solo with Oceania on a 10 day itinerary in Nov 2019 just before the pandemic shutdown and simply paid double. I’ll be nice to know a few like minded individuals who wants to share. Female companions are fine, but I am NOT looking for an affair or a relationship. I do not smoke or drink, and I am open to anything from insides to balconies to suites to suit your budget. I am the quiet photographer and foodie type and not really a party person. — You can look me up on LinkedIn

Its worked several times for me but there needs to be an element of trust for a 24 hr period (when their name will pop up on reservation and they can go into reservation, check in,etc.

If you do it through a reputable travel agent there is no question of trust. The booking is not completed until both (or all) parties have paid their respective portions to the agent.
